This ebony sculpture revisits the first lace design I once carved in boxwood, now reborn in a darker, more precious material. The pattern draws inspiration from the timeless elegance of traditional Alençon lace, with its delicate decorative motifs reimagined in sculptural form.
Working with ebony, one of the most prized and demanding woods, required not only mastery of technique but also deep patience and artistry. The result is a piece that unites strength and delicacy; an homage to the refinement of lace, captured in the enduring beauty of ebony.
the boxwood version is located as a public collection in the fine arts and lace Museum of Alencon in France.
